    The HR Representative shall serve and shall fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose:  To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.

     

    This position provides high level of dedicated support to employees and other individuals for benefit related help or inquiries. This includes assisting employees who call or email the HR Benefits department. The HRRepresentative also supports paid time off and retirement plans.

    Responsibilities

    Employee Support

    • Primary contact for employees for all benefits related questions via telephone, email, appointment and walk-in.
    • Respond to inquiries from benefits participants. 
    • Responsible for monitoring and responding to emails in the main benefits account including the status of their requests for benefit questions and transactions. 
    • Communicate with new hires to schedule individual benefit orientations.
    • Provide consultation to participants in the case of life events and mid-year benefit changes.
    • Assist employees in researching and resolving issues with insurance carriers and third-party administrators and any escalated issues that might arise.
    • Assist with employee customer service regarding FMLA, ADA, and Paid Time Off, Life Insurance, Disability, and Long-Term Care.
    • Assist with the third-party administration process to ensure COBRA & Retiree notifications are sent to eligible participants and payments are handled correctly.
    • Work closely with Payroll as needed to ensure accuracy of benefit related deductions in employee pay checks.
    • Contribute to the yearly Open Enrollment set-up in Workday, including the benefit plans and processes to support employee elections.
    • With the assistance of Benefits Consultants and Benefits Team, actively coordinate  Open Enrollment communication and employee presentations. 
    • Assist with running the integration files that communicate eligibility and enrollment of employees in each plan to the vendors promptly and efficiently. 
    • Provide support for analyzing and correcting any discrepancies from third-party vendor files for the accurate enrolment of employees in benefits plans.
    • Provide support for the three Workday updates annually in partnership with the Personnel Systems Administrator and Business Systems Analysts.
    • Troubleshoot errors and coordinate corrections with the month end process for benefits billing corrections as needed.
    • Educate and support Navigator travelers requiring International Medical Travel Insurance.

     

    Benefits Communication                                                                                                             

    • Work with Benefits Consultants and Benefits Team to develop and implement Benefit Orientations for benefit-eligible new hires, providing education with a focus on a prompt and efficient personal welcome. 
    • Develop relationships, foster increased collaboration, problem-solve, and innovate new processes that serve benefit-eligible new hires. 
    • In coordination with Benefits Consultants and Benefits Team, assist with the development and review for all Employee Benefit Program communications to educate participants and provide important benefit reminders throughout the year. 
    • In partnership with Benefits Consultants, serve as the content steward for the maintenance of the Benefits Website as needed.
    • Promote and educate staff on benefit vendors’ discount programs and products.

     

    Additional Responsibilities                                                                                                                       

    • Maintain fitness room and exercise equipment within.
    • Promote and host annual Flu Shot clinic for employees.
    • Partner with the Benefits Manager and consultants for wellness research and compliance. 
    • Pursue new initiatives and incentives to make wellness available and embraced by all employees.
    • Provides back up administrative and participant support as for Retirement Plans.
    • Provide support for audits as required.
    • Provide administrative support for quarterly Benefit Committee Meetings as needed.
    • Serve on the Domestic & International Crisis Management Teams and provide support when needed.
    • Maintain applicable knowledge in all arenas and pursue professional development.
    • Travel for training and meetings as required.
    • Be knowledgeable of privacy related protections of employment and HR legislation.
    • Submit and monthly expense reports as needed
    • Responsible for submitting hours worked in the organizational Time Tracking system due on a weekly basis
    • Participate in the annual Plan and Progress review process with direct supervisor including creating annual goals and developmental objectives
    • Assist with other job-related duties as assigned.

     

     

    Qualifications

    • Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators
    • Minimum 1-2 years of experience benefits/human resources or customer service fields preferred.
    • Associates Degree in Business Administration or related Human Resources or equivalent job-related experience preferred
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to deliver high level of commitment to customer service
    • Ability to problem solve and provide efficient and effective solutions to inquiries
    • Proven relational and collaborative skills within a team and cross-functionality with other teams
    • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
    • Aptitude to learn new software applications as necessary
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality of information
    • Skilled in Microsoft Office programs
