    The Retirement Administrator shall serve and shall fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose:  To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost.

     

    This position administers the internal policies and external legislative requirement that apply to employment, benefits, payroll and finances to meet the needs of Navigator employees, leadership and all staff.

     

    This position is part of a Human Resources strategic focus to view every process and communication with the goal of improving the value of the employment experience which is measured in part by the annual employee engagement survey.

    Responsibilities

    Retirement Plan Administration                                                                                                              90%

    • Administer the retirement plans in accordance with Internal Revenue Code and ERISA guidelines.  This will require current knowledge of new legislation or regulatory changes.
    • Communicate plan changes to Recordkeeper, verify accuracy of all governance documents and ensure that our procedures are in line with those plan documents.    
    • Act as role-based Fiduciary for the retirement plans with signatory authority and security.
    • Verify accuracy in the maintenance of contribution data and vendor integration files in accordance with established procedures.  Support Workday testing on all reports and files.  Prepare and maintain a procedures manual that allows administrative backup within the team.
    • Respond to requests in support of Retirement Plan audits.
    • Initiate Mistake of Fact or IRS Voluntary Plan Corrections when necessary, complete annual Nondiscrimination Testing for Plans. 
    • Respond to all employee questions regarding plan requirements or service requests.
    • Develop and maintain a financial wellness communications program promoting healthy engagement by all ages of participants in saving for continued ministry after employment.
    • Serve as a resource to the Retirement Committee by researching, preparing and presenting proposals due to Plan design or legislative changes.
    • Oversee internal system changes to ensure compliance with legislative changes and Plan documents.    Coordinates all benefit accounting changes by communicating benefit rate and plan changes to Corporate Accounting.
    • Set up vendor payments as required by Treasury and banking procedures.  Release vendor payments and make journal entries.
    • Provides Financial Tracking to consultants regarding healthcare activities.
    • Completes the bi-weekly contribution analysis and release of funding to Fidelity.

     

    Other Duties and Responsibilities                                                                                                           10%

    • Supports the HR budgeting process and Leave Administration for cross training purposes. 
    • Coordinates all departmental purchases of supplies.
    • Maintain and audit HR and Fitness assets for annual CARM insurance reporting.
    • Participate in organizational activities and assist in coordinating HR/Benefits activities.
    • Attend appropriate training to develop and maintain knowledge in relevant fields.
    • Participate in the annual Plan & Progress Review (PPR) process.
    • Travel on behalf of the organization as needed for participant education and support as well as personal and professional development.
    • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.
    • Three years’ experience benefits/retirement administration.
    • Proven technical aptitude required.  Specific experience in an automated benefit/HR application, such as Workday a plus.
    • Excellent people skills that provide the ability to collaborate and communicate within a team and cross functionally with other team members.
    • Detail oriented striving for accuracy in all tasks.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office products.
