    The New York City Director of Operations shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose:  To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost. 

     

    This position oversees the business and financial management of the New York City NavCity office and staff. This person will also serve administrative, human resource, communications, and leadership functions.

    Responsibilities

    40% Business Management:

    • Works with the NYC NavCity Director, staff, and ministry networks to develop NYC Strategies and Executions Plans that include, but are not limited to:
      • Exploring marketing opportunities
      • Constant evaluation of the current situation
      • Stewarding the capabilities of the staff and available resources
      • Selecting opportunities, gaps to fill, partnerships, and annual goals
    • Work with the NYC NavCity Director to develop organizational and operational structure needed to ensure that the NavCity is achieving its goals in a steady and measurable manner. This includes:
      • Setting up regular staff meetings—Invitations, agenda, preparations, and follow-up.
      • Providing support for each of the NYC-based Navigator Missions in their goals and projects.
      • Developing metric and milestones for each of the NYC-based Navigator Missions.
      • Planning and executing strategic events and conferences.
      • Managing web presence—Navigators-NYC website, Facebook, and Twitter.

     

    25% Financial Management:

    • Work with the NYC NavCity Director and NavCity Admin Office at Navigator USHQ on a financial management system to:
      • Present the financial status of the NYC-based Navigator Missions at staff meetings
      • Provide leading indicators of concerns, including trend and donor analysis
      • Work with staff to develop a plan to address funding and expense issues, as needed.
      • Manage expenses for the NavCity—P-card, Workday expenses, deficits, payments, and donor management.
      • Maintain compliance requirements
    • Work with the NYC NavCity Director NavCity Admin Office at Navigator USHQ on the funding strategy and execution plan for the NavCity.

     

    10% Administrative Services:

    • Work with the NYC NavCity Director NavCity Admin Office at Navigator USHQ to develop and maintain office management systems, procedures, and other administrative services.

     

    10% Communications:

    • Work with the NYC NavCity Director NavCity Admin Office at Navigator USHQ to develop a communications strategy and execution plan to:
      • Provide an appropriate level of information to NYC-based staff, leadership, and donors at the right frequency through the right medium.
      • Maintain Navigator-NYC website for:
        • Increased awareness of the of the vision, staff, volunteers, events, and local ministries in NYC
        • Updated materials, tools, and articles as necessary
        • Financial and prayer support
        • Recruitment

     

    10% Leadership:

    • Work with the NYC NavCity Director on a leadership and management strategy for the NavCity that includes:
      • Leadership team meetings
      • Satisfying the development needs of NYC mission staff in the areas of leadership and management

    Qualifications

    • Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.
    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • 2-3 years of experience in project management.
    • Competent in Microsoft Excel.
    • Familiarity with cash balance sheets, income and expense statements.
    • Ability to synthesize complex information into succinct, user-friendly formats.

     

     PHYSICAL DEMAND

    • Working at a computer for long periods of time
    • Occasional equipment set-up
    • Carrying and lifting up to 50 lbs.
    • Walking, bending, stretching or other physical motions needed to be involved in certain actions related to ministry activities.
    • Ability to travel locally, nationally, and internationally as required.
    • Ability to drive a vehicle.
