Overview

The Corporate Accountant I shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose:  To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost. 

 

This position will assist with essential accounting functions in the areas of field ministry, business ministry, and/or organizational finance to achieve this purpose.

Responsibilities

Accounting functions                                                                                                                                     90%

  • Performs monthly bank reconciliations as needed.
  • Preparation of general ledger journal entries and/or analyses as needed in a variety of financial areas.
  • Prepares and analyzes financial reports for a variety of ministry functions.
  • Assists as needed with donation processing, treasury office administration, bank transaction processing, and expense report processing.
  • Writes and/or maintains and updates procedures as needed in a variety of financial areas.
  • Assists with any other work as assigned by the direct supervisor or Financial Services Leadership.

 

Personal and Departmental Development Responsibilities                                                          10%

  • Continues and grows in their relationships with God and others.
  • Attend all departmental meetings as required
  • Perform other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Professional designations or working toward certification preferred.
  • One year minimum experience in accounting.
  • Excellent people skills that provide the ability to collaborate and communicate within a team and cross functionally with other teams.
  • Strong desire to improve processes and serve others.
  • Skills in Microsoft Office Applications including Excel and Word.
  • Workday experience a plus.
