Overview

The Director of Marketing and Technology shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose:  To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost. 

 

This position is responsible to provide vision, leadership, coordination, and development for the Marketing team.   The Director is responsible to promote NavMissions opportunities both internally to the other Navigator works and externally to entryway recruiting pools by utilizing up-to-date technologies including websites, social media and other digital media. 

Responsibilities

DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT A MARKETING STRATEGY

  • Develop, grow and oversee NavMissions online strategy to maintain a relevant and current presence.
  • Participate in the development of and deploy an improved NavMissions brand suitable to new recruiting pools, pursuing a close and complementary embrace of the US Navigators’ brand.
  • Oversee the execution of strategic social media and digital initiatives, integrating interactive media into the overall mission strategy (such as, but not limited to, Facebook and Facebook ads, Google ads, Twitter, Pinterest, YouTube, SnapChat, Vimeo and Instagram).
  • Build and implement a drip marketing recruiting strategy with the help of our recruiters’ network (missions mentors, discipling recruiters) and our contact relationship management (CRM) systems of iCIMS and TextRecruit. Work closely with the Director of International Recruiting and the Christian College Missions Initiative Developer.
  • Recruit and lead a team including a Coordinator of Social Media and Web Presence and other part-time contributors (interns, iEDGE specialists, returned iEDGErs, former EDGErs, etc.).
  • Work with NavMissions Director of Communications, HQ Communications Department and other communications resources outside NavMissions to:
    • Develop consistent “Navigator” messaging to gain synergy for and assure integration and alignment of the overall NavMissions branding, marketing and communications strategies.
    • Oversee the image, marketing and branding of NavMissions, while meshing with other Navigator communications strategies.
  • Interface with Nav IT and Communications in the creation and maintenance of all NavMissions websites.
  • Advise NavMissions on marketing messaging, processes and standardization in partnership with the Director of Communications and NavMissions Home Team to effectively communicate with field staff.
  • Collaborate with Director of International Recruiting to raise awareness and interest in NavMissions online initiatives at recruiting events.
  • Oversee the development and creation of World Wide Partnership regional recruiting-related films. (In house and outside Navs.)
  • Collaborate with other missions desiring to have a contribution among the nations in the Launching and Life-Long Laborers Spheres. Assist them in developing an approach for communicating nations-focused opportunities within their missions. Also assist other missions in the Nations Sphere to market their staff and laborer opportunities.
  • Oversee a major website platform transition born out of long-term strategic planning with NavMissions leaders, Communications and IT.
  • Develop and oversee other marketing-related projects as needs arise.

 

LEAD, DEVELOP AND CARE FOR THE MARKETING TEAM

  • Build a marketing team
  • Recruit, train and supervise interns contributing to marketing and social media initiatives
  • Meet bi-weekly with the team to coordinate efforts, solve problems, give direction, and develop the skills and effectiveness of each team member.
  • Complete annual Plan and Progress Reviews with each team member
  • Approve time cards and expense reports for team members when applicable

 

PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT

  • Pursue intimacy with Jesus in all things for the glory of God
  • Submit annual goals and objectives to supervisor along with anannual report.
  • Work with supervisor to write a personal develop plan.
  • Meet with International Mobilization team for encouragement and collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.
  • A degree and/or experience in communications, marketing or a related field is highly desired.
  • Ability to lead and/or build a team.
  • Demonstrated social networking experience is strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of web hosting applications.
  • Experience working with outside vendors.
  • Knowledge of the industry and ability to teach new concepts/skills.
  • Heart for/love of ministry among the Nations. Having ministered overseas preferred.
