Overview

The Director of Volunteer Ministries shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose:  To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost. 

 

This position leads and develops the Volunteer Program for The Glen Eyrie Group, including recruitment and training of volunteers. This position serves as internal consultant and liaison and involves direct personal contact with the community, staff, and clients, as well as volunteer staff.

Responsibilities

Volunteers – 50%

  • Implements purposeful recruitment, screening and placement of volunteers in such a way as to carry out the mission of Glen Eyrie
  • Develops and delivers orientation for new volunteers
  • Schedules safety training with CARM and assists in orientation for all volunteers
  • Oversees a communication and recognition system for all volunteers at the Glen
  • Coordinates the use of service groups in facilities, housekeeping, and Eagle Lake Camp
  • Develop understanding of client needs relative to effective volunteer involvement

Administrative – 45%

  • Manages and directs the volunteer program: setting goals, develops budget, maintain records, supervise, exercise risk management, and conducts evaluations
  • Displays strong organizational and office management skills
  • Overall coordination of volunteer placement
  • Attend manager meetings such as OPS team meeting, Compass, Gathering

Community – 5%

  • Connects with multiple community organizations for recruitment and networking
  • Develops and implements appropriate presentations

 

  1. OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Due to the nature of the hospitality industry, business has its peaks and valleys.  As director, business must be managed to completion during these times.
  • Interfaces with/and implements risk mitigation per direction from Risk Managers and Director of HR
  • Member of the Operations Team
  • Will look for educational and training opportunities to improve as a Volunteer Director

Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.
  • 3 Years volunteer ministry leadership experience desirable but not mandatory for position
  • Excellent interpersonal and public communication skills
  • Experience in managing, motivating and building staff and support staff
  • Has demonstrated experience in building programs and ministries
